Sipping History
This branding project was for a fictional coffee house based in Setauket, NY. Since that area was the birthplace of American Spycraft in the 1770s, I decided to create a brand that paid homage to those spies. I created a mark reminiscent of a tradesman's mark with an interlocking "T" & "H." Those letters are also hidden in the maze element. I found creative ways to incorporate artifacts. The Culper Spy Ring's code book, including names, places, and various words and their corresponding numeric code s, was a great textural element to use, (see the inside of the box, and the rust colored shirt). Etchings of Washington and Ben Tallmadge-- the leader of the ring-- were also included in subtle ways. Even the color scheme- a slight alteration of the blue and gold of the continental army uniform- draws from the town's history.
