Retro Modern
This was a self-directed redesign of a fascinating store that exists in North Carolina: selling merchandise from the pop culture of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The original logo was far too cluttered and noisy, shoving elements and icons from the decades around the type. Instead of relying on characters objects from this period, I chose to be inspired by the design of those decades instead, modernizing it for a new audience. This was also my first time creating a mascot character for a brand, which was most enjoyable. My goal was to combine the retro elements with a modernized style in a way that would attract younger generations. The end result was sleek but still playful, keeping the soul of the original brand.
